On its surface, the loss to the Chiefs was hardly the sort of thrashing I thought it would turn out to be. In fact, I told a number of friends in the days leading up to the game that the score would be 47-21 or something completely ridiculous (or not, given the Broncos’ penchant for getting blown out). Unfortunately, Denver kept it close. I mean, not close enough that you actually though they had a shot to win the game, but close enough to prevent John Elway from shitcanning Vance Joseph right there on the spot.
Which is a shame, really.
Because as this site has pointed out ad nauseam/ad infinitum, Vance Joseph deserved to lose his job right after the last game of the 2017 NFL Season was played. The fact he was given another year really boils down to five possible scenarios:
A dark and ancient evil has influenced, and ultimately possessed, John Elway.
Vance Joseph has compromising photos of John Elway—or even a sex tape.
John Elway knows that there aren’t any good coaching candidates out there.
John Elway knows that nobody wants to work with him because he sucks as GM.
Vance Joseph performed a Satanic blood ritual and unlocked the same dark and ancient evil from Option 1, which has altered the very fabric of reality and corrupted the minds of men.
But that's old news, so let’s cut to the chase: when will Vance be sent packing?
During the bye week?
Seems unlikely, largely because there simply doesn’t seem to be anyone worth putting in as interim coach. Yes, that’s how far the Broncos have fallen.
Still, if the Texans kick the living shit out of the Broncos on 11/4, don’t rule it out.
After the season ends?
Unfortunately, this seems to be the likely option. Denver’s been mostly competitive in their losses to two really good football teams (Rams and Chiefs), with their only real blowout being delivered by the Jets.
Like I mentioned earlier, if the Broncos start rolling over and playing dead consistently, Joseph could be shoved out sooner rather than later.
And that’s basically it. We’re most likely stuck with Vance Joseph all the way until the bitter end. How fitting.

Yeah, I saw it. And then I had a couple of friends text me about it. Completely embarrassing. I mean, Jesus Christ—can he even pay attention to what's happening on the field?
Because of how dumb Vance Joseph was, I hereby present you with this incredible clip of Kareem Hunt humiliating Denver’s defense:
